Delete your Owlova account
You can delete your account and everything in it at any time — from inside the app, or by writing to us if you can no longer sign in.
How to delete your account
In the Owlova app (iPhone or Android): open Settings, scroll to Account, tap Delete account, then confirm with Delete my account.
On the web: sign in at owlova.com and use Settings → Delete my account, then confirm.
Deletion happens straight away and cannot be undone. There is no grace period and no way for us to restore an account afterwards — the data is gone, not archived. Every device you were signed in on is signed out at the same moment.
If you have a Premium subscription, cancel it separately. Deleting your Owlova account does not cancel a subscription bought through the App Store or Google Play — only Apple and Google can do that. Cancel it under Subscriptions in the App Store or Google Play, or you may keep being billed after your account is gone.
What deletion erases
- Every medication you added — its name, dosage, form, instructions and notes — and every schedule built from it.
- Your whole reminder and dose history: every dose marked Taken or Skipped, and every dose that was missed.
- Every medication photo you uploaded. The image files are removed from our storage, not just the database rows pointing at them — immediately in the ordinary case, and within 24 hours in every case.
- Your name, email address, phone number and profile picture. The email address becomes free to use for a new account again.
- Every credential and every session: your password, any Google or Apple sign-in link, all signed-in devices, and any unused one-time codes.
- Your notification tokens, so no device can receive another Owlova reminder.
What we keep, and why
Erasure is not quite total, and the exceptions are the ones the law either requires or allows. Nothing below can identify you or say anything about your health.
- Anonymised billing and subscription records. The link back to you is removed — they carry no name, email or phone number — and they are kept for the tax and accounting period we are legally required to keep them for, typically up to 7 years.
- The bare fact that you accepted a given version of our Terms and Privacy Policy, and when, as proof of consent. The IP address and device details recorded alongside it are erased.
- An empty account record with no personal data in it. It is the anchor those billing and acceptance rows hang from, and it is what makes sure a future sign-up can never be silently joined to your deleted account.
- Product-analytics and crash-diagnostic records, which never contain medication names or any health data, expire on their own schedules — up to 12 months for analytics, 90 days for crash logs.
If you cannot sign in
You do not need a working account to have your data erased. Email privacy@owlova.com and tell us the email address or phone number the account uses. We will confirm it is yours before erasing anything, then delete the account exactly as the in-app control would. This is free, and we handle it within the one month the GDPR allows — usually much sooner.
